Why Were All My Microsoft Office Documents Deleted After A System Restore?

I need help! I recently did a system restore because my computer was acting up. Little did I know that all my pictures and microsoft office documents were going to be deleted. I tried to do a system restore once again going back to an earlier date but it will only let me go back to the same date which I did the system restore. Is there any other way i could retrieve these files?
